on Monday destroyed at least seven structures and prompted dozens of evacuations over a wide area around the town of Beulah. By Monday evening, the fire, first spotted east of Beulah near Colorado Highway 78 at about 12:30 p.m., had ravaged 2,400 acres, according to the county sheriff’s office.

Updated Oct. 4, 2016 at 6:55 p.m. Because of a source’s error, information previously published that a school and post office had been destroyed were incorrect. Neither structure was destroyed, officials said on Tuesday.
