Getting your player ready...

University of Denver sophomore forward Dylan Gambrell, a preseason all-American, will miss four to six weeks with an upper-body injury, the Pioneers announced Wednesday. Gambrell, who was DU’s second-leading scorer last season as a freshman, was apparently injured in last weekend’s Ice Breaker Tournament at Magness Arena.

The Pioneers struggled offensively and lost 3-2 to Ohio State and 3-1 to Boston College to finish last in the NCAA’s season-opening tournament. Gambrell is from Bonney Lake, Wash., but played midget hockey with the Colorado Thunderbirds.

CC gift. The Colorado College hockey team has received an $8 million gift for a new on-campus practice rink, the school announced Wednesday. Edward J. Robson, a member of the Class of 1954 and a former CC hockey player, made the donation. Once completed, the Tigers will continue to play home games at the Broadmoor World Arena.
