SOFTBALL – POSTSEASON POWER FIVE

  1. Broomfield (19-2): The Eagles cruised to the Region 1 title with consecutive mercy-rule shutouts, as ace Taylor Gilmore & Co. are the odds-on favorite to win the state championship.
  2. Loveland (15-6): The Region 2 victors are playing their best ball at the right time, and senior pitcher Abby Lukkes has proved she can own the big moments.
  3. (17-5): After putting up 15 runs in a thrashing of Horizon in the regional clincher to make the state tournament, no offense is as hot as the Huskies’ lineup right now.
  4. (16-3): The Region 5 champions haven’t lost in the entire month of October as the program chases its first state title, and senior Chloe Knapp is an offensive catalyst whose hitting rubs off on her teammates.
  5. (12-9): The 26th-seeded Mustangs made a mockery of the RPI en route to winning the Region 7 title, and a healthy Hunter Huser in the circle spells trouble for the rest of the 5A field as Mountain Range battles to defend its title.
