Colorado senior safety Tedric Thompson was named Pac-12 defensive player of the week Monday after snaring two interceptions during the Buffaloes’ 10-5 victory over Stanford on Saturday.
Thompson’s biggest play when he picked off Cardinal quarterback Ryan Burns in the fourth quarter and returned it 30 yards, which set up a field goal that gave the Buffs a touchdown cushion in the closing minutes.

Thompson also intercepted a deep pass from Burns at the end of the first half, which helped CU preserve a 7-3 lead. That interception extended CU’s nation-leading takeaway streak to 21 consecutive games.
Player of the week honors have come in a steady stream for the Buffs. Thompson’s award marked the fifth time a CU player has received a weekly award from the conference.
Utah running back Joe Williams was the Pac-12 offensive player of the week after rushing for a school-record 332 yards and four touchdowns in a 52-45 victory over UCLA. Washington State’s Robert Taylor took home the league’s special teams honor for his 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown during a 37-32 win Saturday at Arizona State.
The Buffs (6-2, 4-1 Pac-12) are off this week and will return to action Thursday, Nov. 3 with a 7 p.m. home game against UCLA.
