A Weld County mother captured on video earlier this year abusing her 2-year-old son has pleaded guilty , prosecutors say.

Katrina Kennedy-Flores, 26, of Lochbuie, admitted to knowing or reckless child abuse causing bodily injury, which carries a penalty of up to 24 months in jail.

Kennedy-Flores was arrested in May after the 16-minute video of her surfaced. According to the Weld County District Attorney’s Office, the video showed her slamming a booster chair into her son’s playpen and also repeatedly hitting him.

“She could also be heard cussing at the 2-year-old and yelling ‘I’m going to kill you’ and ‘You’re going to die’ after he apparently lost her phone charger,” the district attorney’s office said in a Tuesday news release.

Prosecutors say the boy had bruises to both arms and legs and two dark spots on his forehead, which resembled bruising.

“Unfortunately, many of us have seen this video by now,” District Attorney Michael Rourke said in a statement. “Itap sickening. Itap sad. Itap reprehensible. Prosecuting crimes against children, the smallest and most vulnerable voices of our community, must be a priority.”

Kennedy is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 3.
