Authorities on Wednesday identified a woman over the weekend and a man — one of two brothers suspected in her death — who was shot and killed by law enforcement officers.
Alicia Christmas-Moore, 42, died of multiple gunshot wounds after she was found by El Paso County sheriff’s deputies responding late Saturday to reports of gunfire on the 4900 block of Brant Road near Security.
Investigators quickly identified two men — brother Demetrius Mac Moore, 40, and 32-year-old Daniel Lee Moore — in Christmas-Moore’s death. The two were found at separate locations in Colorado Springs.
Demetrius Mac Moore was tracked by Colorado Springs police and sheriff’s deputies to the area of East Platte Avenue and North Union Boulevard where officers fired shots and Demetrius Mac Moore was killed. He died of a gunshot wound in what officials have ruled a homicide.
Daniel Lee Moore was taken into custody without incident on Chelton Road. He is being held at the El Paso County jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
Jacqueline Kirby, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, said that Demetrius Mac Moore and Christmas-Moore were married until recently. Kirby said detectives are still trying to determine which Moore brother — if not both — allegedly shot Christmas-Moore.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Colorado Springs Police Department at 719-444-7000.
