The announced 9 percent Twitter workforce reduction took a tiny bit out of Boulder operations Thursday, resulting in a handful of layoffs. This despite plans earlier in the year to double the local employee base.
Workers at Twitter’s 1301 Walnut St. offices, speaking on condition of anonymity to protect their jobs, said they believed about five positions were eliminated.
Officials from the company did not respond to requests for comment, so it remains unclear if the planned expansion will still happen. As of February, there were about 100 employees in Boulder.
Roughly 350 people companywide were expected to be let go, primarily in the sales and marketing departments.
