No. 1 Pomona rolled to a 40-7 victory over No. 10 Chaparral on Friday night at Echo Park Stadium, improving the Panthers to 4-0 in Mount Evans Conference play.
Senior linebacker Uriah Vigil got Pomona going with a 55-yard pick-six on Chaparral’s first drive, and Cameron Gonzales, Max Borghi, Ryan Marquez all added scores of some variety throughout the night en route to the win. Chaparral senior quarterback Taden Blaise had the lone score for the Wolverines with his 72-yard touchdown pass to junior Peyton Ross.
Pomona Cherokee Trail next week to close out the regular season, while Chaparral (currently ranked 11th in the 5A RPI) finishes up at Hinkley.
