Authorities in Montrose County are investigating after human remains were found Saturday by hunters in the Sawmill Mesa area of the Uncompahgre Plateau.
The county sheriff’s office says several bones and items of clothing were discovered during a subsequent search on Sunday.
Investigators are working to determine the identity of the remains.
“The identity of the remains are pending and no further information is available at this time,” the sheriff’s office said in a Monday news release.
