Democrat Morgan Carroll is bringing in the big guns for the homestretch of her race against Republican Mike Coffman — President Barack Obama, appearing in an for the Colorado state senator.
The spot starts Wednesday and runs through Election Day; in it, Obama says Carroll and other Democrats “can get more done” in Congress on issues ranging from college affordability and “ending the corporate tax breaks that send good Colorado jobs overseas.”
The ad was funded by Carroll and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and her staff said the run’s cost was in the “low six figures” but provided no more specifics.
Carroll is hardly alone in using the president for her campaign. In recent weeks, Obama has begun to play a in federal and state races nationwide.
In response to the ad, Coffman’s campaign released the following statement: “Morgan Carroll is the last person on the planet who unequivocally supports Obamacare, so the fact that the President took personal involvement for Morgan Carroll isn’t a particular surprise. This election is a Marine vs. Morgan Carroll, Nancy Pelosi, Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton and now the President of the United States. Our message to all of the above is — take your best shot. We are ready.”
