
Still agonizing over which of two presidential candidates to vote for? By asking a different question, your selection is probably clearer than you think. Your justifiable choice is a third-party or major-party primary candidate with the capability and character to serve — yes, character is important and valid — even if that means a write-in vote.
The “wasted vote” argument is known and appreciated. However, with the liberties we are blessed with in this country, any ballot you cast for someone you do not support is the wasted vote. We deserve positive rather than negative choices. Further, a desire for the system to change will be buried if you do not have the determination to voice your preference and conscience: a “lesser of two evils” vote merely substantiates the major-party candidates, neither of whom this year appears to be the “right” choice to many voters.
