Re: Oct. 29 letter to the editor.
A reader stated that we the people have not lost faith in democracy but in our leaders. In response, I might suggest that these leaders are more of a reflection of us than we might be willing to admit.
If our lives were open to the constant scrutiny that invades the lives of our leaders, what would be the report? Are we able to compromise on tough issues in order to progress? Are we always faithful to our spouses? Do we cheat the government out of taxes if we find a loophole or believe we can get by with it? Is it our habit to drive 10 mph above the speed limit on the interstate or freeway?
For love of country, it might be we need to work on that log in our eye.
