Blame was spread after the Broncos’ lost to the Raiders on Sunday night at Oakland. Dropped passes in the first quarter deserved some.

Tight ends A.J. Derby and each dropped a pass on the Broncos’ second drive — Derby’s on the first play of the series and Green’s on a third down at Denver’s 21-yard line.

“Nobody wants to drop the football,” Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said. “They want to make those plays and you have to overcome those plays, but for some reason itap been happening early. Some of those things have been happening early and all you can do is continue to battle through them. Don’t run away from them, it is what it is. You look at it and we have to fix it. We have to play better. Keep battling in practice and thatap part of our business.”

Receiver battle? was inactive for the third consecutive game Sunday, despite being healthy. Kubiak said it was, in part, because of team needs; injuries have required him to make room for others. But Latimer also still is fighting for position at wideout.

“He and Bennie are battling for that spot,” Kubiak said. “We’ve had some other issues going on with our team that we’ve needed that spot on game days. We’ll see. It continues to be a competition each week.”
