El Paso County authorities have released new details that left a woman and a 14-year-old girl with burn injuries, saying the 36-year-old man suspected in the case lit the woman on fire.

Consepcion Rascon Jr. allegedly poured an accelerant on the woman and ignited her. The teen, a relative, was hurt as she tried to extinguish the fire, the county sheriff’s office said on Tuesday.

The encounter happened Sunday on the 1300 block of Forest Road in the Stratmoor Hills area.

Rascon remains on the lam and is wanted on charges of child abuse, domestic violence, attempted first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree arson.

The sheriff’s office says through its investigation it learned the situation started as an argument between Rascon and the woman.

The woman was sitting in a vehicle with the teen when Rascon allegedly started the fire.

“Our investigation indicates there may be people assisting Rascon in the Stratmoor Hills and Deerfield Hills areas,” the sheriff’s office said in a Tuesday news release. “It is a criminal offense to assist someone who has committed a crime and … a person assisting Rascon could be charged with accessory to attempted murder.”

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center at 719-390-5555.
