A Berthoud man has been arrested after a woman called 911 on Wednesday and told emergency dispatchers she had been set on fire.
The incident was reported at about 9:35 p.m., when emergency responders were called to the 600 block of South Larimer County Road 31, according to a sheriff’s news release.
When deputies arrived, a detached garage near a home was on fire.
Jacob Dean Anderson, 43, was outside the home, and a 50-year-old woman suffering “significant” burns was found inside the home.
Firefighters with the Berthoud Fire Protection District arrived and put out the garage fire, and a Thompson Valley EMS ambulance took the burn victim to a hospital.
Anderson was taken into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant. He also was treated for burns to his hands prior to being booked into the Larimer County jail.
Anderson faces possible charges of felony second-degree assault, and a domestic violence sentence enhancer, relating to the fire and the woman’s injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
