Most of us are familiar with the classic margarita.

Ideally, it should be made with fresh-squeezed lime juice — not bottled mix. The former elevates the drink to cocktail status. The latter is associated with regrettable nights, and even worse mornings, on spring break.

Classic coin margarita

This is the classic margarita. For a less-potent version, reduce the amount of tequila to 1½ ounces. Serves 1.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces tequila blanco
  • 1 ounce Cointreau
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon agave syrup

Directions

Combine with ice in a cocktail shaker. Mix and pour into a pint glass.
