Interview with Mindy Arbuckle, founder
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
:I started teaching yoga in 2001 after I realized the immense power yoga had to transform you into your true authentic self. I opened my first yoga studio in 2005 so I could serve my community to improve their overall health and wellness, thus improving their lives.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
:At Maitri Yoga we honor the heart and soul of yoga. We start with the body because it is something we can all relate to, but we don’t stop there — yoga is a rich practice with many facets. In our classes, we begin to connect our clients to this vastness in approachable ways. We help people improve their lives on the mat, but more importantly off the mat. We connect yoga to life and life to yoga. Our school, Usha Shala, walks with you on your journey even farther through uplifting education. We are here to shine our lights brightly and inspire others to do the same. Thus, we improve the world one person at a time.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
:Helping others find their best selves through the amazing practice of yoga.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
:Our biggest challenge and our biggest gift is connecting people to each other and to themselves. We are very mindful about how we cultivate our community and to help people see beyond their differences to what unites them.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
:Our name “Maitri” is a Sanskrit word meaning “friendly.” We are a place where you can come practice yoga with friends even if you don’t know anyone yet.
