Rebecca LacaA 56-year-old grandmother has been charged with child abuse after a 6-month-old baby suffered a brain injury.
Rebecca Laca is charged with child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, a felony, according to the Denver district attorney’s office.
On Nov. 11, Laca was caring for the infant when she allegedly became upset and slammed him down on a bed. According to a probable-cause statement, the child suffered a frontal bilateral subdural brain bleed and retinal hemorrhaging.
Laca is free on $50,000 bail. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 27, when she will be advised of the charge formally.
