
Larimer County authorities have identified the 50-year-old man slain in a in Fort Collins and the suspect who has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Duane L. Gardner, of Fort Collins, died of a stab wound to the chest in what has been ruled a homicide, the county coroner’s office said.
Officers were called out at about 5 p.m. Monday to 715 Parker St. on a report of a stabbing, said Officer Dustin Wier, a Fort Collins Police Department spokesman. When police arrived, they found Gardner suffering “life-threatening injuries.”
Gardner was taken to Poudre Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
David Matthew Strunk, 48, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder. Formal charges have not been filed.
Investigators say they have determined Strunk, Gardner and a witness to the killing were all known to each other, but a motive for the killing has not been released.

Police described the scene as isolated and said the facts surrounding the case continue to be investigated.
