A Windsor teen was killed when a wrong-way driver hit him and his friend head on while driving down Interstate 25 near Erie on Thanksgiving, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Passenger Kyle Nackos was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, trooper spokesman Tim Sutherland said. His friend, who was driving, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver’s name was not released because the teen is younger than 18.

Sutherland said Alex Rodriguez, 25, was driving south in the northbound lanes. The police suspect alcohol was involved. Sutherland said the investigation was still on-going.
