
Hit, run and return. On the night of Nov. 14, a woman at her home in the 10400 block of West 83rd Place, Arvada, heard a crash. When she investigated she realized her car had been hit and saw a damaged vehicle driving away. As she spoke with officers, a shoeless woman ran up to the scene claiming to be the driver of the vehicle that fled. The suspect told officers she had been texting her boyfriend when she hit the parked car and left because she didn’t have her registration or insurance. Officers reported that she smelled strongly of alcohol and could not adequately perform sobriety tests. The suspect was charged with driving under the influence, and careless driving.
Momma’s boy. Arvada police were called to the area of West 66th Circle and Dover Street Nov. 11 at 1:44 a.m. when an intoxicated male could not find his way home and was unable to pay his $49.50 cab fare. The suspect admitted to being under the influence of heroin and told officers his mother would not allow him in the house while under the influence of drugs. He also stated he’d hoped his mother would pay his cab fare. Authorities had the suspect transported to a hospital and issued him a municipal ticket for theft.
Meddling kids. On Nov. 19, Arvada police officers responded to the Apex Skate Park, 12920 W. 72nd Ave., Arvada, where a male suspect had threatened a group of juveniles with an axe. When officers arrived, the suspect stated the juveniles were calling him names and hurting his feelings. He was charged with disorderly conduct and banned from the skate park for six months.
Unnecessary attention. During a routine patrol Nov.15 in the area of West 64th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard, an Arvada police officer was flagged down by a man and woman sitting in a parked car. They told the officer their car battery was dead. The officer noticed the suspects were drinking from a bottle of peppermint schnapps. When the officer ran the man’s name through the statewide database, he saw that due to a mandatory protection order the suspect was not allowed to possess or consume alcohol. The suspect was arrested for a restraining order violation.
