Dylan Thomas Hollingsworth, the Niwot High School football coach accused of choking a student and then kneeing him in the groin, was charged Thursday with assault and harassment.
Holingsworth, 43, was charged with one count of second-degree assault, a Class 4 felony, and one count of third-degree assault, a Class 1 misdemeanor. The harassment charge is a Class 3 misdemeanor.
Holingsworth appeared at the hearing out of custody on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond and had a status conference scheduled for Jan. 26.
Both Hollingsworth and defense attorney Jon Banashek declined to comment on the case.
The St. Vrain Valley School District has placed Hollingsworth — who also is a teacher at the school — on administrative leave.
According to an arrest affidavit, an altercation occurred between Hollingsworth and a 17-year-old student on Oct. 26.
