DENVER AT DALLAS, 6:30 p.m. Monday, ALT, 950 AM
Spotlight on Wesley Matthews: When Nuggets rookie Jamal Murray hits a 3-pointer and gives the ‘bow-and-arrow’ celebration, know that Mavericks shooting guard Wesley Matthews is pretty much the originator of that gesture. And Matthews, of late, has had a lot of reasons to celebrate. He’s hit an eye-popping 25 3-pointers in his last five games, shooting 51 percent from beyond the arc in that span. Matthews is in his second year with the Mavericks, and playing well after coming back from Achilles surgery.
Nuggets: It hasn’t been the most aesthetic-looking six-game road trip for the Nuggets, who bring it to a close Monday in Dallas. But a win against the Mavericks would give the Nuggets a 3-3 record. The Mavericks check in with the worst record in the NBA at 5-18. Wilson Chandler missed Saturday’s game with soreness in his right hip and is questionable for Monday’s game. Only Gary Harris (foot) is definitely not available.
Mavericks: Dallas has lost three of its last four games. Scoring, or at lack of it, has been the central issue for Dallas all season. The Mavericks are averaging just 92.7 points per game while allowing 100.9. Injuries have also been a problem. Three major players are out for this game – forward Dirk Nowitzki (Achilles), center Andrew Bogut (knee) and guard Jose Juan Barea (calf).
