A prominent 14-acre parcel at the corner of Wadsworth Boulevard and West 38th Avenue in Wheat Ridge, which as a derelict former auto dealership has turned into a major eyesore, got a nudge forward this week after city leaders approved a subdivision plat for the site.

The resolution passed by the City Council on Monday night is one of several steps developer Quadrant Properties must take before it can begin building what it is characterizing as a mixed-use development at the site, which has been vacant since 2010 when the Go Ford dealership was shuttered.

The city’s blessing of a subdivision plat comes . The company’s proposed Walmart Neighborhood Market locating at the site.

Quadrant has not yet released details about its project.
