After 6-8 inches of snow overnight, the Colorado Department of Transportation said that if you don’t need to drive Saturday, don’t bother.

“Itap one of these situations, if you don’t have to go out, itap best to stay in,” CDOT spokesman Steve Allen said.

Roughly 20-22 snowplows are working their way through the Denver area but Allen said the icy and snow packed roads will likely continue to freeze without any warm weather forecasted to melt the snow. To find out where snow plows are, check out .

Lots of cars have been stuck on the shoulder of roads or were simply abandoned in medians, he said. Drivers should be particularly cautious on overpasses, ramps and bridges, which can become icier than main roadways.

Chain and traction laws are in effect for commercial vehicles on Interstate 70 and Interstate 25.
