Rumble at Brook Forest. Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a disturbance Dec. 10 at the Brook Forest Inn, 8136 S. Brook Forest Road, Evergreen. An intoxicated man there was bleeding from a knife wound. He said his friend took his keys to prevent him from driving drunk. The two then got into a physical altercation that resulted in the knife wound. The victim was unsure whether the knife wound was intentional. Police could not locate the suspect, but found his motorcycle, helmet and blood in the snow nearby. The victim did not want to press charges so the case was closed.
Mailbox menacing. Mailboxes at multiple residences in the 1000 block of Linda Lane, Evergreen, were found open the evening of Dec. 4 with mail scattered around them. The reporting resident could not tell whether anything was missing, but was waiting for packages. The mail carrier said she last delivered mail around 1:30 p.m. Dec. 3. There were no suspects.
The crow. Jeffco Sheriff’s Office received a call Dec. 10 from a resident of the Morrison area who said she believed someone shot a crow in her yard. She found the bird wounded in her back yard and took it to a veterinarian, who said X-rays showed the crow had a shattered shoulder caused by a small-caliber bullet or pellet. There are no suspects.Cash harvest. An employee of an unidentified business in the 2000 block of Meadow Drive, Evergreen, reported Dec. 4 that she discovered the business’ cash drawer open and some cash missing. She suspected a suspicious white male in his mid-30s who had been in the store asking about bird feeders but seemed uninterested in her answers. He left abruptly and that was when she saw the open cash drawer.
Stoned cars. On Dec. 6, Jeffco Sheriff’s Office received two reports of softball-sized rocks thrown through car windows in Littleton. In one incident, in the 10000 block of West Peakview Place, the victim said it happened sometime between 10:30 p.m. Dec. 5 and 11 a.m. Dec. 6. The other incident, less than 2 miles away in the 10000 block of West Weaver Drive, reportedly happened sometime between 8 p.m. Dec. 5 and 3:30 p.m. Dec. 6.
