A youth corrections officer has been charged with sexually assaulting two juveniles in custody at the Gilliam Youth Detention Center.
Armando Torres, 25, is charged with sexual assault on a child and two counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, according to a Denver District Attorney’s Office news release Tuesday.
Torres, who has been placed on leave, is a correctional youth security officer at the center. The charges allege that he had sexual contact with two juvenile females in separate incidents. The first assault allegedly occurred in April, and two subsequent assaults occurred in November and December.
Torres, who was arrested on Dec. 11, is free on a $50,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled Jan. 13.
