Burglars used a truck and chain to rip the front door off the front of a pot dispensary in Colorado Springs early Thursday morning but were unable to get to the rear of the business where the marijuana was apparently kept.

The break in and burglary of the pot dispensary happened at 3:30 a.m. in the 5000 block of North Academy Boulevard.

The burglars were caught on security video backing up to the business in a truck, attaching a chain to the front door and violently tearing the door off its hinges, according to a Colorado Springs police report.

But the video also showed the crooks were thwarted by an interior door leading to the rear of the business.

A private security guard arrived at the pot shop and found the damage to the dispensary, the report says. Police from the Falcon Division were then called to the building.

The report said the investigation is continuing but did not indicate whether someone had been arrested.
