Re: Dec. 20 letter to the editor.
Letter-writer Peter Bryan bemoans the dissatisfied and disgruntled Democrats who refuse to accept the legitimacy of Donald Trump’s victory, but that isn’t the reason Dems are complaining. As Trump picks his Cabinet, we see the inevitable hierarchy of his choices going to climate-change deniers, generals who very often have difficulty with reality, and wealthy elites who bought and paid for their new posts with large donations to the Trump campaign. Trump has surrounded himself with an inexplicable lineup of unqualified and untested people who will be making up their reality as they move forward with their agendas. And his adult children, who are playing far too great a role in this transition, are all too willing to auction off Trump access to the highest bidder.
Democrats are justified in worrying about the ethics and morality of a Trump government where facts are disallowed in determining outcomes on policy and uninformed attitudes are to form the rule of law of his administration.

One has to wonder where letter-writer Peter Bryan has been for the last eight years. He excoriates Democrats for attempting to de-legitimize Donald Trump’s victory. Trump was birther-in-chief for five years. Bryan chastises Democrats for acting like spoiled children. Republicans in Congress voted dozens of times to repeal Obamacare, knowing the legislation would only be vetoed if it did pass both houses. He rebukes Democrats for showing no regard for our democratic processes. Trump has consistently shown ignorance of and disregard for our Constitution.
If Democrats are doing the things Bryan alleges, they’re only modeling the behavior of Republicans over the last eight years.
