The Broncos carried their offensive line issues to the very end Sunday, placing right tackle Ty Sambrailo on the inactive list. He joined several other key players with injuries who won’t play against the Oakland Raiders in the regular-season finale at Sports Authority Field.
Sambrailo, a second-round draft pick in 2015, started at right tackle earlier this season, replacing Donald Stephenson, who at the time was struggling. But Sambrailo did not fill the gap and Stephenson was soon put back on the starting line.
Since his start against Kansas City at right tackle on Nov. 27, Sambrailo has not been in the starting lineup. And he did not play at all against New England three weeks ago.
The Broncos instead made Billy Turner active as a backup against the Raiders. Conor McGovern, a guard, was also ruled inactive.
Denver’s injury list remained severe to end the season. Safety T.J. Ward (concussion), linebacker Brandon Marshall (thigh), defensive lineman Derek Wolfe (neck) and tight end A.J. Derby (concussion) will not play Sunday, as expected.
And wide receiver Jordan Norwood, who was the Broncos’ primary punt returner for much of the season, was also listed as inactive. Rookie Raymond will be in the lineup in his place.
The Raiders’ biggest missing piece is quarterback Derek Carr, who is out for the season with a broken leg suffered last week. Matt McGloin, from Penn State, will start under center in his place.
