Crews on Tuesday recovered the body of a man found in an overturned car that landed in a canal in Commerce City, the Colorado State Patrol said.

The Honda Civic plunged into a canal in an industrial area near Potomac Street and Highway 2, patrol spokesman Nate Reed said. Light snow covered the car and its tracks, indicating it might have been in the canal overnight, and investigators were unsure how the car crashed, he said.

Authorities first received a call about the car at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The man’s identity has not been released.

This is a developing story that will be updated when further information becomes available.
