Suspect has to use the john. On Dec. 27, a man called Denver police after he was assaulted by a houseguest in the 3600 block of High Street. The victim told police that he has been involved in an argument about the guest leaving and had punched in the head. The suspect ran out the front door before returning shortly thereafter to use the restroom. The suspect was identified and arrested.

Refusing to pay for ride. Officers responded to an assault in progress Dec. 25 near the intersection of 19th and Market streets where the suspect was refusing to pay for his ride. The victim said that he got out to confront the suspect for not paying, and the suspect hit him in the face. The suspect was cited for assault.

Man throws stones. On Dec. 24, police arrested a man after he was observed throwing rocks at Tobin’s Liquor Store, 4100 W. Colfax Ave. As the suspect was being arrested, the officer noticed a window was broken and contacted the owner, who wished to press charges.

Mace used in defense. A man called police Dec. 22 after he was attacked by a suspect while in his car in the 2800 block of South Federal Boulevard. The victim told police he was leaving his home in his car when the suspect approached and began beating on his hood. The suspect then began hitting the victim in the car until the victim used mace to ward off the suspect. He was located and arrested.

Backpack thrown. On Dec. 23, police arrested a man outside Denver CARES, 1155 Cherokee St., after the suspect refused to leave and tried to assault an officer. When approached by an officer, the suspect threw his backpack at the officer, hitting him in the leg.
