Restaurant wreckage. A chef at Charito’s House, 9080 Spruce Mountain Road, Larkspur, arrived at the restaurant Dec. 15 to find a side window broken and well as damage to the computer system where orders are taken and a neon beer sign inside. Someone had also turned off the main power switch on the back of the building. Nothing was stolen. Damages were estimated at $3,000.
A bail bamboozle. A man living in the 5000 block of Carbonate Way, Castle Pines, got a call Dec. 15 from a raspy-voiced man claiming to be his grandson. The caller said he had been arrested for drug possession in Chicago and needed $4,000 for bail. The victim bought two $2,000 gift cards and gave the numbers to a person claiming to be a police officer holding his grandson. The next day, the victim discovered his grandson was at work and was never in Chicago.
Dangerous driver. On Nov. 29, a motorist was pulled over in the 19600 block of Hess Road, Parker, after police determined the driver hit an unattended vehicle and fled. The driver was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Pots plundered. A staff member at Glow Dentistry, 850 W. Happy Canyon Road, Douglas County, called police Dec. 12 to report two large, resin flower pots were missing from the sidewalk in front of the business. Two other pots were stolen there about the same time in 2015, officers said. They are not likely to be replaced this time.
Parent peril. A driver failed to stay in their lane in the 19200 block of Mainstreet, Parker, Dec. 13. When pulled over, the driver was found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol with a child in the car.
