“Based upon the reported information,” the sheriff’s office said in a Wednesday news release, “this would be a violation of the Skier Safety Act law which required all skiers/boarders involved in a collision stop, exchange information and summon aid.”

The woman was taken to a medical clinic by the resort’s ski patrol.

The Summit Daily reports the woman, a Keystone ski school employee, , a broken fibula and a cracked meniscus. A witness told the newspaper the snowboarder launched off a bump and slammed into her, sending both tumbling down the trail.

“This case is under active investigation and no further information is being released at this time,” the release said.

The snowboarder was described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He was wearing a black and red Ruroc Inferno full-face helmet and light-brown pants.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Detective Scott Wagner at 970-423-8913.
