Somebody messed with the Jesus. On Dec. 15, Golden Police went to First United Methodist Church, 1500 Ford St., where a secretary reported that someone drew a swastika and a “Hitler-type mustache” on the baby Jesus in their nativity scene. A week earlier, they also found a note on the church’s side door that said in black marker the church is “mean to veterans.” The markings on the Jesus appeared to have been drawn with the same kind of marker used to write the note. There were no suspects.
Sticky situation. A business owner in the 4000 block of Pletner Lane, Evergreen, reported that she arrived at her store Dec. 18 and could not get her keys into the door locks. A locksmith came by and said someone had put superglue in them. There were no suspects.
Nasty neighbors. Residents of the 10000 block of West Surrey Drive, Littleton, were returning home Dec. 19 from a court case in which one of the residents pressed charges against the other over her barking dog. The dog owner lost the case and reported that she was sitting at an intersection on her way home when her accuser stopped his vehicle next to hers and spit on her car. Deputies contacted the suspect, who admitted to the spitting but said it was because his neighbor cursed at hime and waved her middle finger. The reporting party was told she would be ticketed too if she pressed charges. She decided later not to pursue the case.
Stealing a buzz. The owner of Casa Tequila’s, 1193 Bergen Parkway, Evergreen, reported that on Dec. 15, two males and a female sat at the bar, ordered beers that they paid for in cash and then stole three bottles of Kah tequila. The tequila bottles are shaped like human skulls and were displayed at the end of the bar within reach of the suspects. surveillance footage showed one of the males putting the bottles into his backpack.Another buzz theft. A resident of the area of South Rainbow Crest Drive, Evergreen, reported Dec. 24 that 11 marijuana plants were stolen from his basement. The victim was out of town and left a door unlocked to let a friend water the plants while he was gone. The friend was at the residence to water them Dec. 22 and returned Dec. 24 to find them missing. The resident suspected a neighbor who text messaged him Dec. 23 to ask if he was home, but there was no further evidence.
