An armed man who told authorities his name was “Crazy Wolf” was arrested in Pueblo after police say he was stunned by a Taser when he howled and growled at officers.

Ruben Gamez, 44, was taken into custody Thursday morning on suspicion of being a previous offender in possession of a weapon, felony menacing and attempted second-degree assault. He is also accused of resisting arrest and a restraining order violation.

Pueblo police say members of a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives task force are assisting in an investigation into Gamez, but did not elaborate on why.

Officers were called about 10 a.m. Thursday on reports of a man causing a disturbance at the McDonald’s on the 600 block of West 6th Street where they found Gamez nearby. Authorities say Gamez briefly tried to get into a police vehicle before fleeing the area.

“Officers quickly caught up with him and attempted to take him into custody,” police said in a news release. “While doing so, the man tried several times to reach into his coat pocket.”

Eventually, police say they stunned Gamez with a Taser, later finding a handgun in the pocket of his coat.
