
A close call. On Dec. 29, a man called Lakewood police after he was involved in an altercation over a parking space in the 10300 block of West Colfax Avenue. The man works in a building there and said there have been constant issues with people parking in their lot when visiting a nearby car dealership. The man said he told one driver that he could not park in the lot and the suspect cursed at him. He also tried to take a photo of the license plate, but the suspect gunned his engine and sped toward him.
Tough times. An employee at Walmart, 7455 W. Colfax Ave., reached out to Lakewood police Nov. 25 after a woman was seen shoplifting. The woman was confronted by loss prevention after she attempted to leave the store with nearly $250 in merchandise that she did not pay for. The woman admitted to the theft and said she had been through rough times. She also noted she would not wait for police to arrive and left the store.
Glass door shattered. On Dec. 29, a woman called police to report that her sliding glass door window had been broken in the 7200 block of West 20th Avenue, Lakewood. The woman said the door was intact at 4 a.m. when she let her dog out, but was broken just three hours later. No one appeared to make entry into the home.
Strange van reported. A man called police Dec. 28 after he had a confrontation with some people in a suspicious van in the 1800 block of Kendall Street, Lakewood. The man said he had approached the people in the van and told them to leave the area and words were exchanged. The other party was contacted and though no crime was committed, the two were advised to stay away from each other.
