Colorado 2 in Commerce City will be closed in both directions between Quebec Street and East 88th Avenue from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for five consecutive nights beginning Monday so that work crews can install piping underneath the road.
If the work is not completed the week of the Jan. 9 due to weather or other circumstances, it will continue the following week.
Southbound drivers on Colorado 2 should detour by turning right onto East 88th Avenue and then left on Rosemary Street. Northbound drivers on Colorado 2 should detour by turning left onto Rosemary Street and then right onto East 88th Avenue. Signage will be in place to direct traffic.
Future detours and closures along Colorado 2 as the highway is widened are likely until the project is finished in 2018. The project includes between East 72nd Avenue and Interstate 76.
