If you’ve had a hole in your heart since Gaia Bistro closed on Jan. 1, boy do we have good news for you

Yardbird has risen from the ashes of both Gaia and , which shuttered last summer. Yardbird blends the popular breakfast and lunch items from Gaia with the dinner service of the Pearl (and takes over the Black Pearl’s location at 1529 South Pearl St.).

“Since Gaia was so limited with our kitchen, we wanted to turn it into more of a diner than a bistro,” said owner Patrick Mangold-White, who partnered with the Black Pearl’s owner Steve Whited on Yardbird. “We’re expanding into dinner with things like meat loaf, pot pies, fried chicken – middle American comfort food.”

Trend alert: We are officially coining the term “frankenrestaurant” in honor of this restaurant combination. (Hey, we’ve got ; we can have frankenrestaurants, right?) You heard it here first, folks.
