Brighton police arrested a man armed with a shotgun after a 32-year-old woman was shot and wounded Tuesday.
Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 300 block of South 7th Avenue at 5 p.m. and found the woman with a wounded leg.
Two men were present and one of them, Rodney Morales, 43, “was holding a .410 shotgun when officers entered the residence,” according to a news release. “Morales … immediately dropped the shotgun when officers entered the residence.”
The Brighton man faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a defaced firearm, both of which are felonies.
The woman was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening wounds and kept overnight.
