Severe winter weather and storms across the country are putting a pinch on blood donations, according to officials.
Bonfils Blood Center said Thursday that blood stocks, especially O-negative, are in short supplies.
“All blood types are welcome, with type O-negative most urgently needed,” Bonfils said in a news release. “O-negative is the universal blood type and can be given to patients of any blood type.”
Bonfils is part of Blood Systems, one of the nation’s oldest and largest networks of nonprofit community blood service providers. As members, Bonfils, here in Colorado, is helping sister communities battered by severe weather.
Donors are encouraged to make appointments at or by calling 303-363-2300. Walk-ins are welcome. For more information, visit the Donate Blood section of .
