A 25-year-old man has been arrested for investigation of three counts of first-degree murder in the whose bodies were found Sunday night outside a home in Capulin.
Santos Navares of La Jara, is being held on three counts of first-degree murder after deliberation, three counts of first-degree murder with extreme indifference, and one count of attempted murder, according to a Tuesday news release by Sheriff Howard Galvez Jr.
The victims include Guadalupe Cervantes, 57, Jose M. Archuleta, 54, and Marissa Herrera, 30.
Don L. Martinez, 34, was also shot. He was transported by helicopter to a hospital for treatment, according to the sheriff’s office.
Just after 6 p.m. Sunday, Conejos County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on County Road Y.
Cervantes and Archuleta were pronounced dead at the scene and Herrera was flown by helicopter to a Denver hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Navares, who also goes by the alias Santos Rameriz among other aliases, was later arrested by numerous law enforcement authorities several miles west of the murder scene near County Road AA, according to the news release.
Navares also is being held for investigation of aggravated motor vehicle theft and felony menacing.
Colorado State troopers and police officers from Manassa, Antonito and La Jara assisted Conejos County deputies in arresting Navares.
