Sunshine with highs in the mid 50s is expected early Thursday before a weather system from the east brings the chance of snow at night, forecasters say.

Early in the day, winds out of the southwest will help boost temperatures to a high of about 55 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

There is a 20 percent chance of snow after 3 a.m. Friday morning. The low temperature is expected to reach 29 degrees.

Between 1 and 3 inches of snow is expected in the mountains Thursday night.

There is a 40 percent chance of snow before 11 a.m. Friday in Denver. As temperatures warm up to a high of about 41 degrees it could rain Friday afternoon, weather forecasters say.

Less than a half inch of snow is possible in the Denver metro area on Friday.

The highs will reach the low 40s on the weekend and through Monday, the NWS says.

There is another chance for snow on Monday night after 11 p.m. There is a chance for snow on Tuesday and Wednesday as well. The high temperature Tuesday and Wednesday will be in the mid-30s, the NWS says.
