Starting Monday night, northbound Interstate 25 traffic at the Crossroads Boulevard exit, near the Larimer County Fairgrounds and Budweiser Events Center, will be rerouted for the $21 million demolition and replacement of a bridge in the northbound lanes.

According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, , and southbound travelers will be moved to a temporary bridge west of the highway.  The lane shift will likely remain in place until summer.

CDOT said in a news release that the change will slow traffic in both directions and lane closures are expected on I-25 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays. The work also will periodically close on- and off-ramps at Crossroads Boulevard — exit 259.

When ramps are closed, drivers can use U.S. 34 (exit 257) or East County Road 32 (exit 262) to navigate around the project.  Both routes add about five minutes of travel time, according to the release.

Other lane closures are anticipated. You can keep track of them at the CDOT website — — where you can also .

“This project demonstrates an innovation in bridge construction for CDOT,” said project engineer Jim Hoffman. “Although we will be removing two 500-ton bridges and replacing them with entirely new structures, the traveling public will be minimally impacted.”
