Despite the requisite feature and documentary screenings that address the ills of the world, this year’s 13th annual Boulder International Film Festival was deliberately programmed to give audiences a break from the divisions on display in the country.

With films that “enlighten, inspire and uplift audiences,” according to founders Kathy and Robin Beeck, the event comes to various venues in Boulder and Longmont through March 5 with events like the returning competition (March 3), a new virtual reality pavilion and the closing-night (March 5) screening of the Boulder-bred, Sundance award-winning documentary

Ticket prices and screening times vary, and there are themed and side-events galore, so find out more at biff1.com.
