What are friends for? A woman called police to the 13000 block of Highlands Circle, Highlands Ranch, Jan. 6 because her truck was missing from a friend’s house there. Days later the victim reported the truck had been found and the case should be closed. A follow-up investigation revealed a friend had hot wired the truck and moved it to a nearby restaurant parking lot to protect it from potential thieves while the victim was in detox.
Mysterious property damage. A sheriff’s deputy spotted a SUV with its rear windshield broken out near the intersection of Perry Park Road and Manhart Avenue, just outside Sedalia, on Jan. 3. The owner said his daughter was driving it several days earlier and hit a deer. The family was waiting for the vehicle to be towed. The back windshield was not damaged when they left it there.
Domestic injury. Police responded to reports of a woman screaming “help me” in the 6600 block of Old Ranch Trail, Roxborough Park, on Jan. 6. They located a woman bleeding from her chin, along with a male resident of the home and a female friend. The bleeding woman was very drunk and had hit her chin on the stairs. She claimed the man pushed her because she would not have sex with him, but because of conflicting witness statements, no charges were filed. She was taken to a hospital.
Black mark on the record. A man living in the 8300 block of Briar Trace Way, Castle Pines, reported tar had been splattered on his driveway overnight Jan. 12. A power washer was likely needed to clean it up. The house had been egged a few months earlier. There are no suspects.
