Tiger Woods is officially part of the TaylorMade Golf family. Woods made the announcement on twitter that he was joining the company after several months of testing and is proud to join the No. 1 family in golf.
For the first time since 2002 Woods will be playing competitive golf without a Nike club in his bag. He will have a full bag of TaylorMade clubs that will include woods, irons and wedges according to PGA Tour writer . That will leave Woods the option to keep his beloved Scotty Cameron putter in play.
“Throughout my career, I’ve always been meticulous about my equipment,” Woods said in statement released Wednesday morning. “Over the past few months, I’ve had clubs from every brand sent to me to test. When it came to making a final decision, the choice was easy, it all came down to performance, which is why I chose TaylorMade.”
The deal with TaylorMade will also be a homecoming for Woods as he played their clubs during his amateur career. of Woods playing the classic Burner model club from 1995.
Woods, still under contract with Nike, will continue to wear their apparel moving forward and will be playing a Bridgestone golf ball after signing an endorsement deal in Dec. 2016.
