Denver Water has restored service to customers who were cut off when a 24-inch conduit ruptured Saturday, but West 29th Avenue between Zuni Street and Umatilla Street will remain closed until cleanup and road repair are complete.

Four buildings on West 29th Avenue between Zuni Street and Vallejo Street lost service when the pipe broke, the department said, at 3:45 p.m. Sunday.

Road repairs and cleanup efforts will last through the day, and West 29th Avenue is scheduled to reopen overnight, according to the water department.

Breaks like this typically are caused by temperature fluctuations or failure of a weak section of pipe. Denver Water will evaluate the condition of the pipe to help inform decisions for proactive maintenance and upgrade programs.
