Re: Jan. 21 Jon Caldara column.
Jon Caldara attempts to inflame our passions over wealthy Coloradans who get tax breaks for purchasing electric vehicles to the tune of $7.6 million, courtesy of taxpayers. Fair enough. But that is a pittance compared to the corporate welfare for oil and gas companies that collectively receive billions of dollars in tax breaks and royalties while reaping billions in profits. Why doesn’t this stick in Caldara’s craw, too? Nevertheless, subsidies also come in the form of pollution. If an industry pollutes our air, water and earth, without compensation, then that amounts to a subsidy, too. We, the taxpayer, pay for that.
