A Nordic skier who suffered a heart attack Saturday on the valley floor in Telluride was released from a Grand Junction hospital on Tuesday.
Davis Fansler, a long-time Telluride resident, was skiing Saturday when severe chest pains prompted him to call a friend. The friend called 911, according to a Telluride Fire Protection District news release.
Telluride emergency services responded and took Fansler, navigating the snow and an 8-foot berm, to a waiting ambulance. He was taken to Telluride Regional Medical Center. After being stabilized Fansler was flown by helicopter to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction.
Fansler, a former Mountain Village mayor and former Telluride firefighter, serves on the Telluride Regional Medical Center board of directors and is vice chairman of the Telluride Foundation board of directors.
